Job summary

Norfolk Public Schools – Norfolk Middle School in Norfolk, Nebraska is seeking a Special Education (ED) Paraprofessional to assist the classroom teacher with instruction and student support in a middle school setting.

The position is part-time for 9 months, starting date to be determined, with a salary of $19.01 per hour. Requirements include a High School Diploma; First aid/CPR certificate is preferred. Reports to building administrator and special education teacher.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• First aid/CPR certificate desired.

Responsibilities

• Consistent and punctual attendance.
• Assist the special education teacher in helping students with behavioral and/or emotional disabilities.
• Read to students and listen to them read.
• Help students with make-up work.
• Assist in individual or group activities and use educational materials.
• Interpret and follow directions from the teacher.
• Reinforce social skills taught by the teacher.
• Monitor and report student needs to the teacher.
• Supervise lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other areas.
• Assist with students' physical and health needs.
