Job summary

Augusta County Public Schools in Stuarts Draft High School is seeking a Full-Time Special Education Instructional Aide for the Resource Classroom. Reports to the Classroom Teacher and Principal, with salary scale on the Support Scale N1 and 7.5 hours/183 days.

The position offers full benefits including retirement and health insurance. Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and be able to assist in delivering instructions and supporting IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or GED.

Responsibilities

• Reliable attendance and prompt arrival time.
• Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
• Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher(s) to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Assists in delivering instructions to students.
• Carries out instructional plans as designated by the classroom teacher(s) and, if appropriate, students’ IEPs.
• Assists classroom teacher(s) in preparing and developing teaching aids such as bibliographies, charts, centers, and graphs.
• Assists students, individually and in groups, with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Maintains a pleasant and orderly classroom environment and assists with clean-up activities.
• Assists in maintaining a classroom management policy that fosters a safe and positive environment.
