Job summary

The Glendale Unified School District and Loyola Marymount University offer a one-year Special Education residency embedded in diverse classrooms, with mentor guidance and LMU coursework aligned to district SPED initiatives.

Upon completion, residents may be recommended for a California Preliminary Teaching Credential; a 30-day substitute permit is required, and a four-year district commitment follows credential issuance.

Qualifications

  • An earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • 30-day Substitute Teacher Permit. This may be obtained after admission into the program, but no later than July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a full-year residency embedded in a special education setting with mentor guidance.
  • Engage in co-planning, co-teaching, and case management activities.
  • Attend LMU coursework aligned to SPED practice and district initiatives.
  • Implement progress monitoring and data collection systems as required.
  • Participate in IEP meetings with mentor support.
  • Demonstrate growth on performance assessments aligned to CTC standards.
  • Commit to working with the District for at least four years after credentialing.
