Job summary

Elevate Teaching’s Residency is a one-year, paid teacher credentialing program that places candidates in Bay Area classrooms, co‑teaching with an experienced mentor while earning their California credential.

You will receive personalized coaching, cohort-based professional learning, and ongoing support to develop instructional skills and prepare to lead a classroom on day one.

Residents receive a salary and access to scholarships and financial aid, with priority hiring at Elevate partner schools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree by June 2027.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (lower GPA considered with exemption letter).
• Subject Matter Competency via CSET or relevant coursework.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• TB clearance and fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

• Work at an Elevate partner school 4 days a week for a full academic year, learning and co‑teaching alongside a mentor teacher.
• Co‑plan and co‑teach lessons that support diverse learning styles.
• Support individual students, small groups, and whole classes to provide differentiated instruction and create a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate closely with your mentor teacher and school staff to assess student progress and implement effective interventions.
• Engage with families and the community to foster strong relationships that support student success.
• Lead teach when your mentor teacher is out of the classroom for monthly trainings.
• Substitute teach in other classrooms at your school (depending on school placement).
• Engage in ongoing professional development and coaching with a cohort of peers.
• Complete university coursework and all California credential requirements.
