Job summary

Fulton County Schools is seeking a Program Specialist, Services for Exceptional Children to support the Area Superintendent in developing effective K-12 standards-based instruction and balanced assessment. You'll help align progress reports and provide coaching for teachers in the Exceptional Children program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education is required and certification must be active or eligible.
• Valid teaching certificate in Special Education required; Leadership certification preferred.
• A minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with standards-based instruction and professional staff development required.
• Experience in educating students with exceptional needs; ability to work in a large organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Area Superintendent in developing and implementing standards-based instruction and progress reporting.
• Support, train, and coach teachers and staff in the Exceptional Children programs.
• Develop Power Standards and Reporting Standards for K-12.
• Deliver training to administrators/teachers on providing feedback to students.
• Coordinate with principals, parents, teachers, and outside agencies as needed.
• Serve as liaison between the Division of Academics and Teacher Quality on instructional practices.
• Collaborate with Leadership in Learning and Teaching on curriculum revisions.
• Assist schools in integrating curriculum and meet diverse student needs.
• Attend area meetings and represent interests of students with disabilities.
• Travel between schools; perform other duties as assigned.
