Job summary

The DeKalb County School District seeks an experienced Teacher, Special Education Preschool to educate diverse learners in line with state and district standards. The role promotes a safe, engaging learning environment supporting academic growth, physical fitness, and life skills for global citizenship.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, delivering instruction in-person and virtually, communicating with families, and managing IEPs with appropriate SDI and progress reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a Georgia PSC approved accredited college or university in the relevant educational field is required.
• Valid Georgia PSC approved teaching certificate for the appropriate educational field is required.
• Special Education endorsements (ESOL & Gifted) are required.
• Minimum two (2) years of verifiable industrial work experience; CTAE specializations where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Teaches grade-relevant, subject matter-specific, and mandated curriculum.
• Develops and implements lesson plans and activities for in-person and virtual learning with documented preparation.
• Communicates with district personnel, students, and parents via phone, email, or video conferencing.
• Creates an in-person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and student development.
• Collaborates with general and special education staff to implement IEP goals and accommodations.
• Maintains attendance records and submits progress reports for students.

Education

Bachelor's degree from a Georgia PSC-approved college/university

Georgia PSC teaching certificate (appropriate field)

Endorsements: ESOL & Gifted
