Wareham Public Schools’ Wareham Elementary School in Wareham, MA is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction to children ages 3-5 in our preschool setting for the 2026-27 school year.

The teacher will design and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction, develop and implement IEPs, conduct assessments, and collaborate with families and a multidisciplinary team to support each student’s goals.

Qualifications

  • Massachusetts teaching licensure in relevant special education areas.
  • SEI endorsement required or in process.

Responsibilities

Job Description
  • Seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction to children ages 3-5 in our substantially separate learning center preschool settings for the 2026-27 school year.
  • Design and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that meets diverse learning needs while maintaining a safe, structured classroom environment
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Conduct student assessments to determine functional capabilities and make informed placement recommendations
  • Foster strong partnerships with families, teachers, instructional assistants, and therapists
  • Participate in IEP meetings
  • Maintain accurate, confidential student records and documentation
  • Research and implement evidence-based interventions and teaching strategies, follow district curricula for Math and ELA
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and team collaboration
  • Organization and structure of his/her assigned classroom
  • Works collaboratively with other teachers, instructors, coordinators, and administration to support the overall needs of the students.
  • Plans and supervises the classroom schedule and staff.
  • Coordinates the schedules of all ancillary personnel involved in the classroom.
  • Keeps open and ongoing communication with each child's interdisciplinary team members.
  • Identifies needed materials and equipment under educational plans.
  • Responsible for the education of each student consistent with the goals and objectives of the IEP.
  • Ongoing assessment of each student's functioning level.
  • Draft IEP and progress notes.
  • Completion and distribution of progress notes, detailing each student's progress towards meeting their IEP goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal, administration, or the superintendent of schools.

Salary: $59,467 to $98,688 Per Year

  • Massachusetts Teacher Licensure in one of the following:
  • Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-2 or PreK-8)
  • Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities (PreK-2 or All)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to a collaborative team approach
  • SEI Endorsement: Candidates must have a Sheltered English Immersion endorsement, vital for supporting English language learners in the classroom. Experience working with young children with diverse learning needs
  • Background in social-emotional learning and behavior management
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
