Job summary

York Suburban School District seeks a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support individual students with disabilities and to move with them as they progress through grade levels. This role requires paraprofessional training and the ability to obtain required background checks.

The PCA provides continuous, stable support, may move between buildings, and can be reassigned if a student leaves the district. Completion of the listed education requirements and clearances is expected.

Qualifications

• Two years of post-secondary education coursework (48 college credits) or highly qualified status.
• Highly Qualified Special Education Certificate through PDE.
• Passing CAPE test or ability to obtain highly qualified status.
• Ability to obtain highly qualified status within the district timeline.
• Prior experience working with students with disabilities.
• Must obtain PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI background checks within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students and transition with them as they progress through grade levels.
• Move between buildings (e.g., elementary to secondary) as needed.
• Provide consistent and stable support for the student.
• If the student exits the district, be considered for any available qualified positions.
• Refer to the attached job description for essential functions.

Education
