Requirements

Reports to: Preschool Principal

Receives Guidance From: Special Education Teacher; Building Principal

Job Goal: To assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to the students

Terms of Employment: 9 months; 35 hours/week

Evaluation: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district’s Personnel Evaluation Policy

Essential Duties

• Consistent and punctual \"on site\" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function


• Works cooperatively with classroom and special education teaching team to provide quality instruction and supervision


• Uses positive forms of communication with children in the classroom


• Demonstrates confidentiality


• Helps in the care of the classroom including sanitizing classroom toys and materials


• Assists special education students in the classroom by providing additional supports such as hand-over-hand guidance, expectations reminders, and movement breaks


• Assembles and organizes materials to be used during instruction by Classroom Teachers and Special Education Teachers


• Interacts with children during play by expanding on vocabulary and social skills


• Supports the Special Education Teacher by documenting objective observation notes


• Assist with inventory of supplies and equipment


• Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher or Preschool Principal
