Job summary

Leadership Prep School Teel Elementary Campus in Frisco, Texas is seeking a Special Ed Paraprofessional for the 26-27 school year. This nonexempt, full-time position reports to the Principal and supports students with disabilities under the supervision of certified teachers.

The paraprofessional helps implement IEPs, assists with self-help and behavior management, and supports instructional activities. Two years of experience preferred; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Help meet the individual needs of students including transferring to and from wheelchairs; lifting and positioning; interpreting instructions and assisting with personal care.
• Help manage the behavior of assigned students, including intervening in crisis situations and restraining when needed.
• Recognize differences in students’ needs and adapt methods and interaction accordingly.
• Work with assigned students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises.
• Assist students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.
• Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned students.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
