Job summary

Hill Top Academy in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking a full-time paraprofessional to support students eligible for special education under the CAIU program.

The role involves teamwork with teachers, assisting with classroom activities, supervising students, CPR/First Aid readiness, lifting up to 40 lbs, and using Microsoft Office. Schedule: 7.5 hours/day, 190 days/year, with emphasis on confidentiality and district policies.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with special needs population desired.
• Must be certified as a Qualified Paraprofessional or able to become one within established timelines.
• Must be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED and able to participate in SCM or equivalent.
• Must have the ability to lift/assist with lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Must have computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Works with the teacher as a team member in the educational and social development of students.
• Assists the teacher in developing and maintaining a positive environment.
• Acts as a positive social and emotional model for students.
• Performs instructional activities and monitors results under the teacher's direction.
• Assists in managing student behavior according to policies.
• Performs CPR/First Aid and restraint procedures as needed.
• Provides input on student progress and needs.
• Maintains confidentiality per FERPA.
• Assists in meeting personal care needs and mobility around the building.
• Follows schedule and adheres to laws and district policies.
