Job summary

First Children Services is seeking a Classroom Aide in North Bergen, NJ to support students with diverse learning needs within a private special education school. The role is full-time and non-exempt, with compensation from $19.50 to $21.50 per hour and reports to the School Principal.

The Classroom Aide will assist with academics, behavior, and social-emotional development, collaborating with teachers and families to foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Academic Support: Assist students with assignments, homework, and projects.
• Social/Emotional/Behavioral Support: Provide emotional support and encouragement to students and assist with social skills.
• Communicate with students, teachers, parents and other professionals; collaborate with staff to assess concerns.
• Ensure safety and well-being of students in their care and supervision.
• Support students in related therapies as required.
• Maintain timesheets and session notes in Central Reach.
