Qualifications

  • Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check eligibility required.
  • Maine Department of Education Educational Technician I, II or III Certificate eligibility required.
  • Level I: HS diploma, orientation within 8 weeks, ongoing in-service training.
  • Level II: 60 hours postsecondary education or 2 years paid related work.
  • Level III: 90 hours postsecondary education or 3 years paid related work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with instructional and non-instructional tasks to implement special education programming.
  • Provide classroom management and materials preparation support under teacher supervision.
  • Lead small group or one-on-one instruction as directed by the teacher.
  • Supervise and support students in community-based or classroom settings.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate records of student progress and concerns.
  • Assist in parent and teacher communications as requested.
