Job summary

New Prague Area Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional-CEC for the New Prague, Minnesota area. The 7:00am-2:30pm shift supports students with disabilities to access the curriculum and benefit from their educational placement.

The paraprofessional will assist under a special education teacher, implementing interventions, accommodations, and modifications while fostering a positive learning environment. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a Minnesota driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license.
• Previous experience in working with children, specifically with disabilities, preferred.
• Knowledge and ability to apply basic computer, math and language skills.
• Ability to work with students and staff.
• Ability to work with children of various ability levels.
• Knowledge of district discipline policy.
• Knowledge and application of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training if required by the position.
• Position requires exercising confidentiality in handling district information.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities who need support to access the curriculum and benefit from their educational placement.
• Under the supervision of a special education teacher, carry out appropriate student interventions, accommodations, and modifications.
• Foster and nurture a positive learning environment for all students.
