Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools seeks an Educational Assistant (K-4) at Riverside Elementary School. You will support students with special needs by implementing IEP goals in various settings and collaborating with teachers and service providers.

The position is non-exempt, 8 hours per day, 173 duty days per year, with full benefits. Experience with diverse student needs and custodial duties may be involved.

Qualifications

• Requires holding highly-qualified paraprofessional standards (two-year degree/60 credits or equivalent).
• Certification in Handle with Care within 3 months of hire.
• Para Educator Assessment certification due within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Carry out duties from a student’s IEP across settings (classroom, lunchroom, bus, gym).
• Assist students individually or in groups in resource or inclusive settings, including community or volunteer activities.
• Provide specialized instruction/interventions/accommodations per IEP.
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure safety and progress.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct along with building policies.
