Job summary

Fulton County Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional (Interrelated) to support teachers in classrooms and media centers. Responsibilities include assisting with materials, supervising groups, and helping with daily routines.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, eligibility to obtain Georgia PSC Paraprofessional Certificate, and 0–1 year of experience. Training in Dual Immersion language programs may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must pass the GACE para assessment; in lieu of the GACE Assessment and have 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of a grade of C or better; hold an Associate's Degree or higher at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution is acceptable.
• Must be able to obtain Georgia PSC Paraprofessional Certificate.
• 0–1 year of experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in the preparation of educational materials for students.
• Works individually with students and/or in small groups to help reinforce learning objectives.
• Assists with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, and grading quizzes as assigned.
• Participates in lunchroom, recess, hall-monitoring, and bus duties.
• Assists with preparing and maintaining bulletin boards and other learning centers areas for instruction.
• Participates in required additional training related to the Dual Immersion Model if applicable
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

Summary

Paraprofessionals may serve in a classroom or media center. Incumbents in the Paraprofessional position are responsible for providing assistance to students and staff as indicated in the duties below related the individual’s assignment.

• Excellent organizational skills and flexibility
• If working as a Paraprofessional in the Dual Immersion program, should exhibit proficiency in spoken and written language of instruction

• Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
• Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
• May require lifting, bending kneeling, reaching, stooping or crouching
• Requires ability to move and control an adult-sized wheelchair
