Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking Special Education Paraprofessional Aides at LEAD Academy to support students with diverse needs in a classroom setting and foster a positive learning environment. Duties include assisting with instruction, creating reading activities, establishing rapport with students and parents, and working one-on-one or in small groups.

This role requires two years of college credits or an associate degree, the ability to lift, and a background clearance (FBI/ABI).

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of college credits (48 semester hours) or 2-year degree.
• Experience working with school-age children with varying needs.
• Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the special education program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
• Create a reading program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
• Establish effective rapport with students.
• Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge for an educational foundation.
• Establish positive relationships with parents, students, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors.
• Work with individual students or small groups as assigned.
• Learn and maintain knowledge of policies, routine record keeping and reports.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and information pertaining to students and program.
• Work one-on-one with students with disabilities.
• Assume reasonable tasks as assigned by the Principal.
