Job summary

BASIS Pflugerville is seeking a Special Education Assistant to join our dedicated team. The SPED Assistant will support individual students or small groups, work with ESS Coordinator and SPED teachers, and help implement IEPs while maintaining confidentiality.

The role requires collaboration with general education staff, reinforcing positive behavior, and performing clerical tasks as needed. A strong commitment to student wellbeing is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or satisfactory state background check.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with disabilities in general education, small group setting, or 1:1 setting.
• Reinforce positive behavior expectations.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and progress information.
• Assist the ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher with preparation of resource materials for individual students/small groups.
• Provide progress reporting information to ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher.
• Help the ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Reinforce and reteach concepts introduced by the special education teachers.
• Support the ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher by performing administrative and clerical tasks.
• Maintain regular, full, predictable attendance.
• Potential site designee to provide Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
• Other duties as assigned.
