Job summary

BASIS Leander is seeking a qualified Special Education Instructional Assistant to join our dedicated team. The SPED Assistant will support students with disabilities in general education, small groups, or 1:1 settings and help implement IEPs under the supervision of SPED teachers and ESS coordinators.

The role emphasizes maintaining confidentiality, reinforcing positive behavior, and assisting with material preparation and progress reporting. A strong attendance record is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent must be met.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite expected.
• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or satisfactory state background check required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities in general education, small groups, or 1:1 settings.
• Reinforce positive behavior expectations.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and progress.
• Assist SPED teacher with preparation of resource materials for individuals or small groups.
• Provide progress reporting information to the SPED teacher.
• Support IEP implementation alongside SPED teachers.
• Reinforce and reteach concepts introduced by SPED teachers.
• Perform administrative and clerical tasks for SPED staff.
• Maintain regular, full, predictable attendance.
• Potential site designee for CPI de-escalation or restraints.
