Job summary

Farmington Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for Farmington High School ( grades 9-12). The position is 6.5 hours per day during the school year with an unpaid 30 minute lunch.

The role includes personal care/hygiene support, assisting with medicines, and instructional support under teacher plans. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, LTD, and a 401a retirement plan.

Qualifications

  • A candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e. Para Pathways Assessment). Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.
  • Consideration will be given to the following: 1. ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form. 2. various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness. Prior experience working with school age children is a plus.

Farmington High School (Grades 9-12)is seeking a Special Service Paraprofessional. Position is 6.5 hours per day(not including 30 minute unpaid lunch), school year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SALARY: Salary Scale - Paraprofessional $24.90 - $29.11 per hour dependent upon experience (per FPSEU contract)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Special Service Paraprofessional will provide personal care/hygiene (i.e. lifting up to50poundsand toileting) and assists with medicine regimen. The paraprofessional also may provide a variety of instructional services and classroom support to staff and students. This includes carrying out teacher prepared lesson plans and supervising teacher-planned activities, assisting in the preparation of materials for instruction, and recording individual progress of students. This position exhibits a cooperative working relationship with teachers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supporting Instruction

  • Circulating in classroom
  • Modifying instruction materials
  • Assisting students with technology
  • Assisting students with testing and assessments

Documentation and Data

  • Observing and collecting data on students
  • Recording student progress (including data)
  • Taking classroom notes
  • Taking attendance

Student Management

  • Provides personal care/hygiene (i.lifting and toileting)
  • Assists with medicine regimen
  • Monitor hallways and/or study halls
  • Maintain on-task behavior
  • Corrects minor behavioral problems
  • PMT and restraint training
  • Escort students to other classes
  • Scheduling activities
  • Operate media and classroom tools

Other

  • Handling records in a confidential manner
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • May be asked to provide medical or personal care / hygiene which may require lifting up to 50 pounds
