Job summary

Farmington Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for Farmington High School ( grades 9-12). The position is 6.5 hours per day during the school year with an unpaid 30 minute lunch.

The role includes personal care/hygiene support, assisting with medicines, and instructional support under teacher plans. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, LTD, and a 401a retirement plan.

Qualifications

• A candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e. Para Pathways Assessment). Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.
• Consideration will be given to the following: 1. ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form. 2. various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness. Prior experience working with school age children is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Circulating in classroom and modifying instruction materials.
• Assisting students with technology and testing/assessments.
• Recording student progress and taking attendance.
• Providing personal care/hygiene and assisting with medicine regimen.
• Maintaining order and monitoring study halls and scheduling activities.
• Escorting students to other classes and assisting with classroom tools.
