Job summary

The Chicago Lighthouse is seeking a Paraprofessional Teaching Assistant to support students with disabilities under the supervision of the classroom teacher. The role is based at the Main Office in Chicago, IL and involves implementing individualized goals and activities for students.

Responsibilities include data collection on student progress, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility support, and participation in field trips and school events.

Qualifications

• ISBE approved para-professional certificate required
• Special Education experience preferred
• Experience in educational settings preferred
• Ability to assist with lifting and transferring students with physical disabilities

Responsibilities

• Follow guidelines, goals, and activities for each student as set by the teacher
• Administer goals and supports for individual students under guidance of the Special Education Teacher
• Collect and maintain data on student goals and behavior
• Assist with students' daily living activities and mobility needs
• Support students during field trips and swimming activities with safety in mind
• Attend staff meetings and help communicate progress to parents and guests
