Job summary

Comal ISD Davenport High School in San Antonio, Texas is seeking a SpEd Paraprofessional to support classroom programs, assist with self-help and behavior management, and work under the supervision of a certified teacher. If working in special education, help provide for students' physical and instructional needs in a special education setting.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED, a Texas Educational Aide Certificate, and at least two years of college or an associate’s degree

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate.
• Two years of college coursework (48 semester hours) or an associate’s degree or equivalent.
• Ability to assist in reading, writing, and math readiness as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheel chairs, lifting, or positioning, as necessary.
• Help manage behavior of students, including crisis intervention if needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development activities.
