Job summary

The Spire School in Stamford, CT is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with learning differences, promote independence, and aid teachers in delivering engaging lessons. You will help build confidence and social skills while reinforcing individualized supports in a safe, supportive environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills, and a calm, patient approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Passion for supporting students with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and encouraging in all situations.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Basic computer proficiency with tools like Word, Excel, or Google Docs.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academics, social interactions, and daily living skills.
• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
• Observe, document, and report student progress and behavior.
• Reinforce individualized education and behavior support plans.
• Use positive behavior strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe, supportive classroom.
• Work M, T, TH 730-315, W 730-4:00 and F 730-3:00.
• Work 10 months with the possibility to work the ESY program.
