Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• GaPSC-accepted associate's degree or higher, or 60 college hours with a 'C' or better.
• Two years of college coursework (60 semester hours) above remedial level.
• Passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed.

Responsibilities

• Prompt and regular attendance.
• In person classroom instruction
• Maintain the confidentiality of all student records, reports, and other documentation
• Assists teachers with the clerical duties, grading papers, preparing materials, typing and/or reproducing documents.
• Assists teacher with bulletin boards
• Assist students with health care procedures including hygiene and daily care
• Assist students with physical needs including but not limited to feeding, toileting, repositioning, and mobility as needed
• Works with individual pupils and/or small groups to reinforce skills taught by teacher.
• Supervises groups or individuals at times when the principal deems it necessary for the teacher to be in a professional meeting or at other times designated by the supervisor
• Accompanies groups on field trips under the supervision of the teacher when such trips are authorized for educational purposes
• Assists teachers and the school program by helping with other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
• Assists in supervising pupils before, during, and after school
• Attend professional learning and staff development activities as needed
• Performs such other assignments and duties as assigned by the supervisor and Superintendent of Schools

Education

High school diploma or GED certificate

Associate's degree or higher in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution

Two years of college coursework (60 semester hours) above the remedial level with a grade of 'C' or better

Passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment
