Fulton School District 58, District Wide – Fulton, Missouri
Provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom with specific responsibility to assist in the supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assist in implementing plans for instruction; monitor student behavior during non-classroom time; provide information to appropriate school personnel; and attend IEP meetings as assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Operate standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; prepare and maintain accurate records; communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Basic math including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and present information to others; understand complex, multi‑step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge: grammar and punctuation; stages of child development and learning styles; and age‑appropriate activities.
Function in a multitasking environment; flexibility to work with others and adapt to changing operational conditions; work with a wide diversity of individuals; manage data; use job‑related equipment; problem‑solve to identify issues and create action plans. Specific competency: communicate with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality; set priorities; work as part of a team; work with constant interruptions; handle high stress situations.
Lead, guide, or coordinate others; operate within a defined budget.
The position will regularly work in a noisy and active school environment, with interruptions and high‑stress situations. The individual may need to work outdoors occasionally for tasks such as loading/unloading students and supervising recess. Physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. 15% sitting, 60% walking, 25% standing. May require therapeutic restraint. Exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Job related experience is desired.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Paraprofessional Assessment or Substitute Teaching certificate.
10 hours of Professional Development per year.
FBI Fingerprint and Family Care Registry.
