Job summary

Fitchburg School District is seeking Paraprofessionals for Special Ed Programs to support classroom teachers and ensure safe, effective education for students with special needs. Positions involve 185 days per year and collaboration with SPSA/Principal.

Applicants should meet ESSA requirements, hold an associate degree or 48 credits, or pass a Massachusetts assessment. Competitive pay and health benefits through the City of Fitchburg are provided.

Qualifications

• Meets or exceeds ESSA Title I Paraprofessionals Hiring Requirements;
• Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents;
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;
• Ability to lift to 20 lbs/bend often, and walk;
• Experience working with students with special needs is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist special needs students with or without disabilities;
• Assist the classroom teacher in the implementation of academic /social/behavioral needs;
• Ensure the safety of students across all settings of the school day;
• Attend and participate in meetings and other assigned meetings and activities;
• Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events;
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by district policy;
• Support teachers and administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct;
• Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning.
