Job summary

Joplin R-8 School District is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support teachers in a Cecil Floyd location. The role includes assisting with instructional activities, behavior management, and student supervision to promote academic and behavioral growth.

The position is a 9-month term, classified/non-exempt, reporting to the Building Principal. Responsibilities include following district policies, maintaining pupil safety, and collaborating with staff to ensure effective learning

Qualifications

• 60 college credit hours
• Passed ParaPro Assessment (before 23 Sep 2013)
• Passed Paraprofessional Assessment via Pearson (23 Sep 2013 – 20 Jun 2024)
• Passed ParaPro Assessment via ETS (1 Jul 2024 onward)
• Completed the 20HR Substitute Certificate Course

Responsibilities

• Demonstration of communication and collaborative skills for effective educational team participation.
• Implementation of instructional strategies developed for students.
• Perform duties to support skills being learned and reinforce previously taught concepts.
• Under teacher direction, reteach skills and provide needed support to meet educational, behavioral, and physical needs of students.
• Prepare for classroom instruction including grading, copying, and taking attendance.
