Job summary

Sylvania in Minnesota is seeking a Paraeducator / Teacher Assistant for Special Education to support students with disabilities in mainstream, resource or center-based settings.

The role requires assisting with instruction, behavior management, progress monitoring, and helping with activities of daily living. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and maintain regular attendance. Starting date is 8/31/26; full-time 184 days/6.5 hrs per day; benefits available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Personal Care Assistant certification must be completed within 30 days of start date.
• Candidates may have 60 semester/90 quarter credits or an associate degree or have passed the ParaEducator or ParaPro exam.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work with technology and computers and supervise students.
• Must be able to maintain regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assists in instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings.
• Manages behavior (redirecting, calming or removing disruptive students).
• Monitors and records student progress in academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.
• Manages physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, transporting students in wheelchairs).
