Job summary

LTHS District 204 is seeking a dedicated Special Education ParaEducator to work closely with one or more students with special needs. The role focuses on providing physical, academic, and emotional support to help students participate in the District’s programs.

The position requires ISBE ParaProfessional approval or equivalent credentials, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor's degree and related training in special education. A safe, supportive classroom environment is provided.

Qualifications

• ISBE ParaProfessional approval is required.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred.
• ETS Para Pro Certificate or ACT WorkKeys Certificate may be accepted.
• High school diploma is required.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom teacher in instructional interaction.
• Assist with planning and preparation for lessons.
• Interact with students to address individual needs.
• Attend IEP meetings when needed.
• Assist students with daily activities including routines and mobility.
• Supervise students to ensure safety.
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain records.
• Set up learning spaces and operate classroom equipment.
• Support health and safety practices in the classroom.
• Participate in district training programs.
