Job summary

White Bear Lake Area Schools is seeking a paraprofessional to assist classroom teachers with special needs students in small groups or individually. The role requires a High school diploma or GED, with an AA/AS degree preferred, and experience with special education students.

Candidate must have 60 credits or an AA/AS degree, pass MN Parapro test, and complete Blood Borne Pathogens & Crisis Prevention Intervention trainings after hire. Valid MN driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working with children.
• Associates/Technical degree preferred.
• Experience supporting students with special education needs.
• Experience organizing and managing special education paperwork.
• Must hold AA/AS degree, completed 60 semester credits, approved competency portfolio or pass MN Parapro test.
• Training in Blood Borne Pathogens upon hire.
• Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention within 6-12 months upon hire as needed for program.
• Valid driver's license in the State of Minnesota.

Responsibilities

• Performs intermediate human support work assisting classroom teachers by working with special needs students individually or in small groups, and related work as apparent or assigned.
• Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Building Principal and Director of Student Support Services.
