Job summary

White Bear Lake Area Schools, ISD 624 is seeking a paraeducator for Otter Lake Elementary to assist teachers by supporting students with special needs, individually or in small groups, following the school calendar.

You will work under the supervision of the building principal and the director of student support services, focusing on safety, structure, and encouraging learning in a supportive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates/Technical degree preferred.
• Experience supporting students with special education needs.

Responsibilities

Job description

Salary: Per Paraeducator Agreement

Work Week: 6.5 hours per day; 7:20am-2:20 Monday-Friday, per the school calendar

Student Level: Otter LakeElementary

Position Dates: ASAP

Position Summary

Performs intermediate human support work assisting classroom teachers by working with special needs students individually or in small groups, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Building Principal and Director of Student Support Services.

Education And /or Experience

• High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working with children
• Associates/Technical degree preferred.
• Experience supporting students with special education needs
• Experience organizing and managing special education paperwork

Special Requirements

• Must hold AA/AS degree, completed 60 semester credits, approved competency portfolio or pass MN Parapro test
• Training in Blood Borne Pathogens upon hire.
• Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention within 6-12 months upon hire as needed for program.
• Valid driver's license in the State of Minnesota.
