Job summary

Juneau School District seeks a Special Education Paraeducator at Yaakoosge Daakahidi High School to support students with disabilities in reading, writing, math and vocational activities. The role involves one-on-one or small-group instruction, progress recording, and collaboration with staff.

Required is high school diploma; a degree or 48 credit hours and CPR/first aid may be required; Alaska driver license and WorkKeys option are noted.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Experience with school age children preferred.
• CPR, first aid and district approved behavior management techniques may be required.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license required.
• AA degree or 48 semester hours or be willing to take and pass WorkKeys exam.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily with students in special education.
• Presents material and activities to improve reading, writing, math, computers or vocational skills.
• Works individually or in small groups.
• Records grades and progress and behavior.
