Job summary

Davenport Community Schools is seeking a Special Education Para Educator for a 7-hour position at Garfield Elementary in Davenport. This entry-level role supports students under the supervision of a certified teacher and contributes to implementing IEP goals.

Responsibilities include delivering research-based social skills instruction, assisting with daily living and behavior interventions, attending required trainings, and collaborating with teachers, aides, and administrators to ensure safety

Qualifications

• Must be willing to attend any additional required evening trainings or meetings during the school year or during the summer.
• Must be willing to accept feedback from specialists and special education facilitator regarding implementation and use feedback to implement changes in instruction.
• Must be willing to follow directives of classroom teacher, building administration, and district administration.
• Must be willing to work with students who are explosive in nature and engage in physical and verbal aggression towards others.

Responsibilities

• Provide research based social skills instruction under supervision of certified teacher.
• Assist with daily living skills and behavioral interventions as outlined in IEPs.
• Attend required trainings or meetings during the school year or summer.
• Follow directives of teachers, administrators, and district staff.
• Support students with disabilities in various settings to ensure FAPE.
