Job summary

MCPS is seeking a paraeducator to support students with IEPs under the direction of the principal. The role involves assisting with instructional activities, classroom management, and helping students with academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical needs; some activities may occur off school grounds.

The position requires knowledge of child development and effective communication; candidates should have an associate degree (bachelor preferred) and relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor degree preferred.
• Experience with students in structured educational settings advantageous.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to perform tasks.
• Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Knowledge of working with students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instructional activities and classroom management.
• Support students with IEP-related academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
• Provide clerical support to teachers and staff.
• May participate in activities off school grounds as needed.
• Adapt to flexible scheduling and location changes.
