Job summary

School District of Springfield Township in Montgomery County, PA seeks a paraeducator to support students with IEPs and participate in classroom activities. The position emphasizes collaboration with teachers, behavior support plans, and inclusive education initiatives.

The candidate should meet PA qualification standards (postsecondary study, associate degree, or Paraeducator Credential) and enjoy working with children.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
• Must enjoy working with children.
• Must be considered highly qualified in the state of PA by completing at least one of the listed requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the implementation of each student’s educational program as outlined in their IEP and according to the schedule and routine of the classroom program.
• Document information regarding the students, including needs, strengths, gains, and problem areas as directed by the teacher(s).
• Assist in maintaining student records.
• Help with clerical work such as correcting assignments and maintaining learning centers and bulletin boards.
• Assist in distributing, collecting and monitoring student work.
• Escort students to lunch and scheduled events.
• Supervise students during eating activities, gym activities, drills, assemblies, and field trips as needed.
• Provide support to students attending inclusive regular education classes assisting with modifications as directed by the teachers.
• Oversee students while embarking and disembarking from the school bus.
• Participate in meetings to develop and update I.E.P.’s and Evaluation Reports.
• Attend training sessions and update skills as necessary.
• Assist students in activities of daily living and personal care skills as needed.
