Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, MD is seeking a Paraeducator Level I to support students with IEPs at Wheaton Woods Elementary School. The role is part-time 0.875 FTE (70 hours bi-weekly) with a 10-month schedule, subject to overtime and location changes as needed.

The position starts at grade 13 with potential promotion to grade 14 after six months of probation and required training. Candidates should have an associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) and experience with students

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; nine credits in education-related field recommended.
• One year of experience in a structured educational setting preferred; ParaPro assessment may be required.
• Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies aligned to IEP goals.
• Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with staff, students, and families.

Responsibilities

• Support students with IEP goals in general or special education settings.
• Facilitate instruction, small group activities, and classroom management.
• Assist with instructional program implementation and clerical tasks as needed.
• Remain flexible to schedule changes and location shifts.
