Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Title 1 schools require at least two years of college or an associate degree, or demonstrated equivalent through a state/local assessment.
• Preferred: associate’s degree or higher in education or related field.
• Required: experience working with children with disabilities.
• Preferred: bilingual skills relevant to district population.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional and behavioral support under the direction of a certified teacher.
• Implement accommodations and modifications aligned with IEPs.
• Monitor, document, and report student progress and behavior, including Medicaid documentation as applicable.
• Support classroom operations by preparing instructional materials and assisting with assessments and attendance.
• Assist students with classroom activities and daily routines, including independence and transitions.
• Promote a positive, structured learning environment and reinforce behavior plans.
• Supervise students across settings (classroom, playground, field trips) with attention to individual needs.
• Perform clerical and organizational tasks, including data entry and inventory management.
• Utilize standard office and classroom technology to support instructional and documentation requirements.
