Job summary

East High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming seeks a Paraeducator – Special Education to support students with special needs under the direction of a certified teacher. This 7.5-hour day position runs Monday–Friday for a 9-month year, with pay of $16.52 per hour, paid over 12 months, plus benefits.

The role reinforces curriculum, adapts activities, monitors behavior, assists with IEPs, maintains student records, and provides clerical support to teachers and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. No experience required.
• Preferred: experience with school‑age children and with children who have special needs.
• Criminal background check required.
• First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and adapt activities (50% of time).
• Record and report student progress and maintain files (10% of time).
• Collaborate to implement IEP objectives and attend IEP meetings (10% of time).
• Monitor students and enforce safety in various settings (10% of time).
• Manage classroom materials and perform related tasks (10% of time).
• Attend meetings and in-service training (2% of time).
• Perform other duties as assigned (4% of time).
