Job summary

The Douglas County School District is seeking a Para-Educator II – Special Education to support teachers and students in general and self-contained classrooms. This role involves modeling skills, following behavioral and educational plans, and assisting students with health care needs as outlined in IEPs.

Under supervision, you will work with individual or small groups, aid in instructional delivery, monitor safety, and contribute to a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR and CPI certification preferred.
• Highly Qualified status per criteria must be met.
• Associates Degree or 48 credits recommended.
• Para-Professional Assessment passed required or desirable.

Responsibilities

• Adapts activities and materials to support classroom objectives.
• Assist with IEP objectives and data collection.
• Implement instructional programs under supervision of licensed staff.
• Monitor student safety and behavior in multiple settings.
• Document daily activities and student progress.
• Assist with health care needs and emergency procedures.
