Job summary

School City of Hammond is seeking an educator to develop curriculum aligned with developmental goals and post lessons, syllabi, and grades to the server for student access. The role supports a respectful classroom and uses rubrics for authentic assessment.

You will communicate with families and staff, participate on a MDT for special education, and pursue ongoing professional development through conferences and workshops.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Must hold valid Indiana State Teacher's License or be eligible for a license for corresponding age/grade level.
• Certification in Mild Intervention and /or Intense disability area (MI, MO, ED, SLD).
• Knowledge of IIEP system.
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with families and students.
• Experience developing and implementing curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities.
• Post syllabus, projects/lessons, and grades to the server accessible to students, parents, and the community.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to positive learning and safety.
• Use rubric-based authentic assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adapt programs.
• Communicate with families, co-workers, supervisors, and staff regarding student progress.
• Measure progress and provide progress reports as required.
• Communicate electronically about progress, attendance, and behavior.
• Serve on the Multi-Disciplinary Team to review special education services.
• Attend conferences and workshops for professional development.
• Work cooperatively with staff to improve instructional programs and school operations.
• Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Use procedures to post syllabus, projects/lessons, and grades to the server accessible to students, parents, and the community


• Maintain a classroom environment consistent with established codes of conduct and conducive to positive learning


• Use rubric-based authentic assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs


• Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff


• Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required


• Communicate electronically with students, parents, and other staff members concerning student academic progress, attendance, and behavior


• Serve as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in determining the appropriateness of special education services


• Attend conferences and workshops in order to further advance professional development


• Work cooperatively with other personnel to improve instructional programs and the overall operation of the school


• Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus


• Perform other duties as assigned
