• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside classroom (lunchroom, bus, playground).
• Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs and faculty meetings.

Primary Purpose:

• Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

• Associate’s degree, two years of study at an institution of higher learning, or have met/be willing to meet formal academic assessment as required by theEvery Student SucceedsAct
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate, or abiliity to obtain one

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
