Job summary

Illinois Education Job Bank is seeking a qualified special education supervisor to oversee literacy and math curricula, review lesson plans, and ensure scholars meet their academic goals in after-school programs.

You will provide guidance and coaching to tutors, review data for instructional improvement, monitor student progress, coordinate assessments, and report to parents in a timely manner. Collaboration with school staff and agencies is essential to support diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree or endorsement in special education required.
• Develop and implement IEP goals to meet individual student needs.
• Design curricula modifications and environmental modifications for diverse needs such as autism, ID, orthopedic impairments, emotional disturbance, and communication disorders.
• Deep understanding of disability categories and planning for student learning.
• Organize the testing process for special education eligibility.
• Knowledge of data collection, IEP compliance, and progress monitoring.
• Coordinate with building staff and outside agencies; manage paraprofessionals.
• Experience with vocational programming, structured learning, behavior management and job coaching.
• Experience with students with functional communication challenges.
• Maintain data and reports per program administrators and agencies.
• Coordinate services for all students on caseload; plan and run meetings.
• Create learning environments with varied materials and teaching strategies.
• Train classroom staff in vocational strategies and job coaching.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the implementation of literacy and math curricula.
• Reviewing lesson plans and creating best practice instructional strategies.
• Ensuring that each scholar meets their academic goals.
• Providing oversight, guidance, coaching, and direction to fellow after-school Tutors.
• Reviewing student data and utilizing it for instructional enhancement.
• Monitor scholars’ educational and social progress and making necessary recommendations for adjustments.
• Ensuring uniformity and timeliness of assessments and parent reporting.
