Job summary

Kodiak Island Borough School District seeks an Aide IV for Special Education Intensive Support at East Elementary, Kodiak, Alaska. This 9-month position is 5.5 hours per day, 5 days a week, with an hourly pay starting at $23.91 for Step 1.

Qualifications

• Ability to work well with public, students, staff and parents.
• Ability to carry out tasks assigned by the teacher/supervisor.
• Demonstrate sensitivity, patience, and flexibility in working with students with special needs.
• Must successfully complete training for verbal de-escalation techniques.
• May be required to complete physical intervention/restraint training.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties within Special Education throughout KIBSD.
• Work with students identified with intensive needs (life skills, autism, behavior support).
• May assist and support students with personal care and hygiene.
• May transport, supervise, and support students in job sites.
• Work under the supervision of the teacher/supervisor assigned to support IEP goals and objectives.
• Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
• Assist in developing and using instructional materials and equipment as directed by the teacher/supervisor.
• Assist in implementing teacher developed behavior management programs for individuals or groups.
