Qualifications

• Possess high school diploma or GED; college degree preferred.
• Complete Virginia GA paraprofessional training for ASD or complete within 60 days of employment.
• Experience with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Commitment to equity and inclusion; non-discriminatory practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with requirements of regular and special education classes.
• Inform teachers of information affecting student progress and behavior.
• Prepare classroom materials and provide one-on-one tutoring as needed.
• Attend classes with the student and support notes, review and behavior management.
• Maintain communication on student progress with teachers; supervise as assigned.
• Assist with daily attendance and medication transportation as needed.
• Learn to use assistive technology; follow safety procedures; protect staff and students.
