Job summary

WESTFIELD WASHINGTON SCHOOLS is seeking an Instructional Assistant - Special Education at Cool Creek Elementary School to support teachers and students beginning 08/17/2026. This 35-hour workweek role involves assisting with accommodations, data collection, and student supervision.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, strong communication, confidentiality, and the ability to work with diverse student needs under the supervision of licensed teachers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; some College preferred.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Perform a variety of work involving use of independent judgment, accuracy, speed, and confidentiality.
• Relate well to a variety of individuals, including students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Perform work without continuous supervision.
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, maintaining confidentiality of specified information.

Responsibilities

• Assist as needed for district and state-wide testing per student accommodations.
• Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Record keeping as assigned by teacher.
• Under teacher direction, gather data on goal progress and behaviors.
• Assist with students basic needs like feeding and toileting, along with assisting students with community based outings and work experience.
