Job summary

Lexington County School District One is seeking an Instructional Assistant, Special Education to provide targeted support under the supervision of a certified teacher. The paraprofessional collaborates with staff to implement individualized education plans and adapt classroom activities for students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or
• An associate's degree (or higher); or
• A passing score on the ParaPro or ParaPathways Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, assists a certified teacher in supporting students identified as disabled under IDEA.
• Executes daily classroom activities and prepares/disseminates instructional materials.
• Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information and supports a safe learning environment.
• Participates in professional meetings and training sessions as required.
• Assists with health programs and daily living activities as needed.
