Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support teachers and implement IEP-directed activities in a classroom setting. The role involves maintaining confidentiality and fostering a safe, supportive learning environment for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities include assisting with behavioral plans, preparing instructional materials, and supporting assistive technology usage, while collaborating with staff and families.

Qualifications

• KSAs require proficiency with MS Office, Google Apps and classroom routines.
• Ability to protect FERPA confidentiality and work in teams.
• Experience supporting students with diverse backgrounds and needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with coordinating instructional programs for students with IEPs.
• Support implementation of behavioral intervention plans.
• Prepare materials and manage classroom routines to enable student independence.
• Assist with assistive technology and AAC devices as needed.
• Maintain confidential records and participate in professional development.
• Coordinate student transitions and assist with health care needs as required.
• Provide one-on-one support for students with severe to profound learning needs in SATA assignments.
