Job summary

Lively Elementary School in Irving, Texas is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified teacher and/or diagnostician. This nonexempt role reports to the principal and operates on a para wage grade with 187 days per year.

Responsibilities include assisting in self-help, behavior management, and instructional support, while maintaining confidentiality and ensuring student safety throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Must hold Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities and follow instructions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel.
• Assist in supervising students during the school day (classroom, lunchroom, bus duty, playground).
• Assist in maintaining and transferring confidential folders as required.
• Assist students with individual tasks including positioning, feeding, and mobility.
• Assist in managing behavior and crisis intervention.
• Support learning through materials preparation under teacher direction.
• Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of students.
• Perform duties to enhance campus safety and instructional needs.
• Participate in staff development, meetings, and school events.
