Job summary

Singley Academy in Irving, Texas is seeking a Special Education Resource/Inclusion Aide to support students with disabilities. The role reports to the principal and works under certified staff direction.

The aide will assist in implementing classroom programs, support self-help and behavior management, and help with individual tasks such as transfers and positioning. A paraprofessional certificate and high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience working with children/students, parents, or persons with disabilities

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus duty, playground, and community
• Assist teacher and/or diagnostician in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required
• Assist special needs students with individual tasks as may be required including, but not limited to, transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, feeding, bathroom needs, personal hygiene
• Assist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention
• Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, emotional, and safety needs through in-service and/or teacher direction
• Work with and/or prepare materials for individual students or small groups to develop skills through instructional activities under teacher direction
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
• Perform other duties that enhance the safety, security, and instructional needs of the campus as requested
• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and legal/local board policies
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned
